Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to The International Liver Congress™ 2016

(ILC) for the 51st annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) to take place from 13-17 April 2016 at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain

Following the 50th anniversary celebration in Vienna, the EASL Governing Board received a large amount of feedback, and on behalf of EASL, we would like to thank all those who contributed to the successful 2015 meeting, such valuable information enables us to better meet your needs and expectations.

For ILC 2016, we have decided to implement 2 major improvements; enhanced readability of the ILC scientific programme, and a new poster format enabling better interactivity, efficient discussions and easier access, giving you the best exposure to science. EASL is recommitting to the traditional paper format, but will retain access to electronic to ensure all attendees have the experience they desire. In addition, we will be offering several activities to promote interactivity and increased exposure for authors.

As you are aware, all accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the Journal of Hepatology. The Journal now has an Impact Factor of 11.3, making it the fastest growing and most consistently impactful hepatology publication globally, and we are very proud that it is first in the field. This is the highest Impact factor the Journal has attained and marks EASL’s commitment to providing the liver community with the most up-to-date work and data of the highest quality.

The 2016 scientific programme will comprise:

  • management of liver tumours
  • scientific advances in the growing field of ‘gut-liver axis’
  • a clinical hepatology lecture addressing novel approaches to cure hepatitis B
  • challenging case-studies and animated debates/workshops on NAFLD, cirrhosis, hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, autoimmune liver disease
  • updates on diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic procedures on a broad range of liver-related topics; tissue engineering and animal models, public health issues, imaging and interventional medicine.

Selected sessions and posters will be webcasted and made available on the LiverTree™ for EASL members to view.

Whether you are a Young Investigator, clinician, basic scientist, nurse, or a researcher, you will get the latest data in your specialty, and can broaden your horizons in Hepatology at the ILC 2016. Take part in an exciting week of liver discoveries and exchange!
