About ”The Liver Meeting 2012“
The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) developed a comprehensive, program firmly rooted in the most cutting-edge scientific research and the most current recommendations in the practice of hepatology. The Postgraduate Course, Personalized Medicine and the Practice of Hepatology, introduced important advances in the genetic and molecular understanding of liver diseases and their translation into the clinical arena. State-of-the-Art Lectures addressed topics such as the role of normal constituents of the intestinal microbiota in disease, controversies in transplant for HCC, current management of alcoholic hepatitis, and the role of mitochondria in drug-induced liver injury. The President’s Choice lecture focused on the history and progress in the treatment of hepatitis B since 1982 through the eyes of someone involved in this progress. AASLD also continued to collaborate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) on a wide range of specialized and cross-disciplinary programming at this year’s meeting.
