Dr. Pietro Invernizzi is the head of the Liver Unit and Center for Autoimmune Liver Diseases at Humanitas Research Hospital in Rozzano, Italy. His main interest area is related to Liver diseases and specifically autoimmune liver diseases. He’s been involved at the international level in the development of innovative drugs for primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, steatohepatitis and liver disease viral (hepatitis C and hepatitis B). He participated in the new Italian and European guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of cholestatic liver diseases and autoimmune diseases of the liver, such as primary biliary cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. He is currently engaged in several projects of basic research and clinical trials, in collaboration with numerous Italian and foreign centers. His studies are funded by public institutions and private national and foreign companies, including the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the USA. Dr. Invernizzi is a member of national and international scientific societies.
